Tokyo Folding Light
Inspired by the energy and visual character of Tokyo, the Lantern & Lore Tokyo Folding Light transforms an original graphic interpretation of the city into a warm, atmospheric light and travel keepsake for the home. Designed for people who love travel, distinctive places and meaningful objects, it offers an unusual way to remember a favourite city or journey.
The design centres on the iconic Tokyo Tower, layered with bold typography and architectural details. When illuminated, the artwork comes to life through the folded paper structure, creating changing patterns of light and shadow as the lamp opens and rotates.
Designed by Jay Ballantyne, a Graphic & Media Design student at University of the Arts London (UAL), the Tokyo Folding Light brings together contemporary graphic design, travel and light in a distinctive collectible piece.
Compact when folded and easy to open, it can be used as an ambient table light or displayed as a decorative object. The rechargeable design makes it easy to move between spaces without the need for a permanent power connection.
